Research Interests: Mechanisms of particle-induced pulmonary injury, targeted destruction of lung colonizing bacterial biofilms , aquatic toxicology, understanding molecular mechanisms controlling cellular reponses to environmental contaminants including nanomaterials, asbestos and endocrine disrupting compounds such as bisphenol-A, the role of hormones and endocrine-active contaminants in the lung and their contribution to gender differences in disease severity, impacts of environmental contaminants on fish reproduction accomplished through in vitro mechanistic and field-based studies, examining modulation of pathogen-driven immune responses in the lung by nanomaterials.
